Started in 1986, the Pro Fidelitate et Virtue Award is conferred each year at the Institute on Religious Life’s National Meeting to someone who has been outstanding in the support and promotion of authentic religious life.

Today's episode is honoring our 2018 award recipient, Rev. .Joseph Fessio, SJ. Father Fessio co-founded and became the first editor of Ignatius Press, one of the premiere Catholic publishers in the English-speaking world, producing books, videos and other catechetical resources. From 2002 to 2009 he served as chancellor, provost and theologian-in-residence at Ave Maria University. Father Fessio continues to be involved with other Catholic organizations such as Lighthouse Catholic Media, and The Augustine Institute.

On today's episode, we're listening to an interview with Sr. Natalie Binversie, O.S.F. from the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity in Manitowoc, WI. 

The Franciscan Sisters' mission is to grow in holiness through witness, love, and service in the Catholic Church. In the spirit of St. Francis, they reverence all creation and respect each person as an image of God. They strive to live Gospel values and to serve people in need. Msgr. Mangan is from the Diocese of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is a faculty member at Mount St. Mary's Seminary in Emmitsburg, MD. Ordained a priest in 1989, he has served as an official in the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life in Rome and director of his diocese's Office of the Marian Apostolate.

Today's episode is honoring our 1987 award recipient and founder of the IRL, Rev. John Hardon, SJ. 

Father Hardon entered the Society of Jesus in 1936. He authored over 200 books, including The Catholic Catechism (1975) and was a consultant for the drafting of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. He wrote countless articles, conducted numerous catechetical classes for religious and lay people, developed a series of full-semester courses and was a popular speaker and retreat master as well as a spiritual director and confessor to many. He also founded the Institute on Religious Life, Marian Catechists and Eternal Life.

Father Hardon died on December 30, 2000. His cause for canonization has been opened. We were so honored to have Fr. John Hardon as our 1987 Pro Fidelitate et Virtute Award recipient. Today, we will be listening to a talk he gave titled, We Live by Faith. Thank you and we hope you enjoy!

In the footsteps of St. John, the beloved disciple, the Brothers of St. John wish to follow Christ, the Lamb of God, “wherever He goes”. They serve the Church by living a life of consecration and of brotherly communion with a view to mission. 
The key aim of their missionary activities consists in human and Christian formation in the contemplative spirit of the Apostle John: principally, serving parishes, campus and family ministry, and preaching retreats.
